*Each book in the Tempest series focuses on a different band member so technically they could be read alone, BUT would be much more enjoyable if read in order because of character back stories & continuing story lines*
Christina's Review:
The hottest band Tempest is looking for a new lead singer after losing War Jinkins. When Justin Jones gets offered the gig, he has to prove himself and it turns out to be harder than he bargained for.
Lace is helping out her friend Bridget that she met it rehab by having Bridget and her son come stay with Lace and Bryan for awhile and get a new start in life. I LOVE the relationship Bridget and Lace have and their bond they formed over having an addiction. Bridget is such a strong female and the love for her son melts my heart. She is so bright and kind hearted and has so much to offer that it is hard not to like her.
Justin Jones wants more in life. Meaningless sex just doesn't seem to be enough for him anymore. When he meets Lace's best friend Bridget he instantly wants to get to know her. What he didn't expect was to fall hard for her son as well and want to become a family. Bridget fights her attraction for the longest time. She has a son o think about and her heart to protect. She doesn't believe that someone like Justin can possibly want more than a night of passion. She also has self worth issues and drama that runs deep into her family. So when she finally does h=give her heart to Justin, she runs every time she thinks he is too good for her or that she lets her past interfere with her future. The sooner she realizes Justin isn't going anywhere, the better it will be for everyone!
I enjoyed this book even more than the first, and for that I give this book a 5 star rating! There is still so much more to come with the band and War's story and I am truly looking forward to it! Justin and Bridget's story however was WOW!!

I got up, tagged last night’s jeans from the floor, and hastily pulled them on. I found the remaining pieces of her scattered clothing and threw them at her. “Get dressed and get out.” Succinct and decisive. I didn’t make the slightest attempt to soften my words. Her lips thinned. “Turn around while I put them on.” “Babe, I’ve already seen everything you got. And believe me when I say I’m not interested in having a do over.” “F**k you,” she huffed. I resisted the urge to remind her that she already had. Several times.
MICHELLE MANKIN is the author of the Black Cat Records series of novels. Romance with subtext. For many years she worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter. Somehow, the boredom didn't kill her but the hour and hours of looking at facts and figures provided ample time for her mind to wander. Black Cat Records in Vancouver provides the central backdrop for all of Michelle’s current novels. Love Evolution, Love Revolution, and Love Resolution are a Brutal Strength centered trilogy, combining the plot underpinnings of Shakespeare with the drama, excitement, and indisputable sexiness of the rock 'n roll industry. Things take a bit of a darker, edgier, once upon a turn with the Tempest series. These pierced, tatted, and troubled Seattle rockers are young and on the cusp of making it big, but with serious obstacles to overcome that may prevent them from ever getting there. When Michelle is not prowling the streets of her Texas town listening to her rock music much too loud, she is putting her daydreams down on paper or traveling the world with her family and friends, sometimes for real, and sometimes just for pretend as she takes the children to school and back. Two years ago everything changed for the remaining members of the Seattle rock band Tempest. Two years is a long time. Too long to keep on remembering. Not nearly long enough to forget. In trouble with nowhere else to go songstress Lace Lowell seeks refuge with the band during their stop in New York City. It's a risky move for her because they are both there, two impossibly good looking men whose lives are inseparably entwined with hers. One who bruised her heart and one who smashed it into pieces. Warren “War” Jinkins, the mercurial lead singer of Tempest, has always had a thing for Lace. But then again so does his best friend and band mate. Bryan “Bullet” Jackson, the sinfully handsome tat-sleeved lead guitarist, has a bad boy reputation befitting his nickname. For the past two years Bullet’s had a rule with the groupies: one time, never twice, leave ‘em satisfied, but always leave ‘em. Two guys, one woman, and a host of dark secrets all together within the tight confines of a tour bus as the group travels cross country. Can the past be forgotten and buried? Will friendships prevail? Or will the three of them succumb to seductive impulses too addictive to resist? ** Irresistible Refrain is a gritty rock and roll tale intended for mature readers seventeen and up. Contains sexual situations, strong language, and drug use. **
Christina's Review:
Lace Lowell runs out of an unhealthy relationship and back into the refuge of the only people that she has in her life. The problem is one has broke her heart in the past, and the other shattered it to pieces and they still have flames between the.
Tempest is the next up and coming band. They are hot and the fact that they are best friends and have a history together makes them even more enjoyable as book characters! I love when their is history and chemistry between characters!
Lead singer Warren Jinkins has been with Lace for years. When he laid eyes on her in high school, he claimed her as his. War has always protected his best friend and been there for him no matter what, but when it comes to Lace he has to have her. He knows his best friend Bryan has a thing for her and has since he was young, but he throws the fact that he has always taken the fall for his friend ans saved him from things and uses that against Bry to have Lace for himself.
Bryan aka "Bullet" has spent the last few years loving them and leaving them. He has quite the reputation as a man whore. The one woman he has always wanted has always been out of reach and he has no desire for a relationship with anyone. All he needs is the band and his best friend War. With Lace out of their lives and in a new relationship for awhile, it makes life easier to survive. However, when Lace comes back in the picture and Bryan has to spend time watching Lace and War rekindle their relationship things start to heat up. Bryan burns for Lace again, and has to make the decision of what is more important... his friend's happiness or his own.
I really enjoyed this book. My heart broke for Bry when he had to watch his best friend have everything he has ever wanted. I was ripped in two with Lace when she had to choose between her heart and her head. She loves both men, but her heart has always been with Bryan. The conflict these characters go through to risk their own happiness for that of their friends was heart warming, and at the same time I wanted to strangle them all! There is passion and lust and even drug abuse. The journey to recovery is quite the journey with this gang, but I felt like I was going through it with them all. A book is always better when you feel like you are a part of the story! This book is a 4 star read, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
